I
By
Michael Edwin Q.

I take up my quill and write my name across a brilliant sky
Doing a handstand on horseback galloping at top speed
I fish with my bare hands, keeping my eyes closed
My smile warms the frozen heart
And my shadow cools the sweaty brow
A bird on the wing, the sun at my shoulder
Shining like gold in a diamond mine
The evening and the morning star play laughingly in my pocket
I rise like the morning dew to kiss the heavens
Swoop down like rainfall to fill the lakes and streams
And drift over the feet of mountains like powdered snow
I snake over the land like a river and empty into the sea
There I dive deep into the salty water and then rise up in flames
I finger paint the sunrise and the sunset
I feed the hungry, clothed the naked, visit the imprisoned
Pray for the sick and bury the dead
I wear my heart on my sleeve; my head is in the clouds
I am friend to the friendless and father to the orphan
I am on a first name bases with all creation
But, hey…that’s just me
